Review ‘Having a coffee with science’

More than 60 Cologne citizens took the opportunity to learn about current research projects over coffee and cake at the Old Fire Station in Cologne on 10th July, 2018. Mr. Lüder Wohlenberg (doctor and cabaret artist) led through the afternoon in a very amusing and entertaining way.

The event was organised by the Health Region Cologne-Bonn e. V. and CoRe-Net.

After Mr. Lüder Wohlenberg welcomed the participants, the researchers started with their lectures under the following titles:

– ‘Those who do not ask, wonder why?’
(Ibrahim Demirer, Institute for Medical Sociology, Health Services Research and Rehabilitation Science, University of Cologne)

– ‘When ‘nothing more can be done’, there is still much to do’
(Gloria Hanke, Centre for Palliative Medicine, University Hospital Cologne)

– ‘Focus on patients?!’
(Kira Hower, Institute for Medical Sociology, Health Services Research and Rehabilitation Science, University of Cologne)

– ‘Empathy does good…Care for nurse’
(Andreas Kocks, University Hospital Bonn)

In between the lectures, Lüder Wohlenberg gave the audience an insight into his cabaret programme and introduced, among others, the professional patient Mr. Raderscheid, who was embodied by himself.
At the end of the event there was an award ceremony for the lecturers.

Many thanks to all participants and especially to the lecturing scientists for the interesting insights and the exciting discussion.
