The round discussions on “Cologne’s construction sites in health and social care” were led by Prof. Holger Pfaff, Dr. Nadine Scholten and Peter Ihle.
The discussion participants talked about the lack of doctors and the need for networked cooperation across sectors and interfaces of the care system. Digitization offers assistance here, but its implementation is made difficult. The discussion also focused on equal access possibilities to the health care system. Regional barriers, but also personal factors exist, which determine the access. Especially, for vulnerable patients, such as those with a migration background or patients with a severe illness, access to the health care system is inadequately guaranteed.
The discussion participants seek solution approaches for long-term, cross-interface care, to prevent a shortage of medical care for the persons concerned.
